In addition to being a true passion, directing comes to satisfy my personal need for continuos articulation! I simply like details .. and I like being organized!
On a fantastic trip to Rockport-Maine, USA, and in a great workshop that I devise all filmmakers and photographers to take-part in (http://www.mainemedia.edu), I learned a lot of new things. but most importantly, I learned that directing is not only about the camera angle, the great location or the beautiful cast, it is about the vision! What you will eventually deliver to audience at the end of the day! Since that day, I started seeing things differently! I started questioning the aim of each bit of detail and weather it serves this project or not.
I also got to learn through my journey to “zoom-out” a bit, to be able to see the whole picture, see where we need to go, what the client needs, what “I” want to say and what the audience will perceive.
But the most important thing that I have learned ever, is that everything around us is relative, there is no “right” and “wrong”, there is no “good” and “bad”, no absolutes, and no boundaries, we are the ones who decide! There are no limits to what we can do, there will always be further, bigger, nicer, more artistic, more organic, more colorful and more fun! We only need to keep trying, and to always aim high!
